Christian Advent Calendar Ideas for Families
Advent is one of my favourite times of year. The lead-up to Christmas can feel frantic, but it doesn't have to. Here are some ideas for making it more intentional as a family, whatever your kids' ages.
Why Advent is worth doing as a family
Advent has been around for over 1,500 years. It's the season before Christmas where Christians wait for Jesus, reflect on who he is, and look forward to his return. The practices have changed a lot over the centuries, but the heart of it hasn't: it's a time to slow down and pay attention to what Christmas is actually about.
Doing that as a family doesn't have to mean long devotionals or complicated rituals. Some of the best Advent moments happen in under five minutes, in the middle of breakfast, before anyone rushes out the door.
