The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22

Remembering that I was about 9 years old when I memorised this verse at a kids club, I thought it was time I taught it to my own children. It was only recently when reading a devotional on this passage that I stopped to think about the order of these “fruits”. Paul lists love first. I’d never stopped to consider that all the other qualities flow from the presence of God’s love in us.
